- original fire engine (still exists) presented to village and parish of Rothbury in August 1788 by George Farquhar. For many years the fire engine stood under the shelter of the old Church Porch. By September 1896, the newly formed Urban Council were its custodians and it stood in the shop of George Grey, Builder. Pump currently at Rothbury Garage, Townfoot, Rothbury
